Data Rescue 3 External Drive Recovery App Reviews

My drives are all accessible in finder but none of them show up in this software so I am completely unable to use the software. 0 Stars.

The app works great! I used it to find deleted family photos from over a month ago and recovered them back to my hard drive. Thanks Data Rescue 3! You saved our families memories.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME - I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS PRODUCT LESS THAN 1 STAR IF POSSIBLE - OTHER REVIEWS ARE MADE UP BY ABU It is my opinion that this product does not work with OSX 10.9 even though the app information on the right side of the product screen says Compatibility OSX 10.6.6 or later. I called the company and spoke with Abu who told me that he does not make any money selling this product on the app store. He said in order for it to work that I would have to purchas a $39.99 upgrade to this product that I’ve already purchased on the Mac App Store. I wanted to get my data recovered and reluctantly attempted to make the upgrade and an additional $10.00 was added to my potential download for shipping and handling of my download. I call and Abo said to close and reopen the browser. I tried Google Chrome and it did the same, I also tried it on my Windows 7 PC and the same thing happened. I called one last time and he said that I was the only person that this is happening to and that he sells this upgrade all day long to other customers that he’s ripping off for $39.99 upgrade + $10 shipping + $59.99 Mac App Store cost and “not making any money from the Mac App Store” DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME, THIS IS A COMPLETE HOAX, RUN BY A ONE MAN SHOW. HE DOESN’T EVEN LIKE APPLE, OR THE MAC APP STORE, HE JUST MAKES MONEY OFF OF APPLE CUSTOMERS “ALL DAY LONG” I just wanted the app to work so I could restore my files and this has been a complete waste of time, and I still don’t have my lost files

OMG I can’t believe I failed to read the reviews. Spending $60 for absolutely nothing is very painful. For me it was the product statement of “External, non-boot drives that show up in Disk Utility, but will not mount can be recovered with Data Rescue 3 External Drive Recovery” that sold me. Since my external drive was appearing in Disk Utility but wouldn’t mount. That is the problem statement that lead me to the App Store for a solution. it was that statement that lead me to purchase the product (failing to do due diligence and read the reviews) . It is that statement that I can verify is wholly false. The external non boot drive was not picked up by this product. Worse yet about ths product - I grabbed up all my external drives (good ones, mount fine) and one by one tested them all with the product (trying refresh volumes, trying relaunching, etc, etc.) and found that this product failed to recognize every external drive every time.

Installed on external bootable running 10.9 to fix other 10.9 computers, but the drives don’t show up, even though they are not damaged and show up everywhere else. Runs well on older systems

Looking for a data rescue tool to recover files from a external HDD. I thought this was a good idea, I have boght this brand of software before. After installing I tired to use it and it wouldent even show the list of available drives to work on. As you know there are no returns on the itunes store, so this was a big waste of money.

First, DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION IF YOU RUN OS 10.6 OR LATER. It wont work. If youre considering this product, you can download a demo from the manufacturers website, which will allow you to run a full scan to determine whether the app can even see the files you need to recover. IF YOU BOUGHT THIS & RUN OS 10.6 OR LATER, YOU STILL HAVE OPTIONS: The manufacturer offers an upgrade to the full version (which does work on OS 10.6 and later) for a total combined price of only slightly more than if youd bought the full version in the first place. If the application can see the files you need to recover, then its pretty pretty easy to run. Its got menus and scanning progress animations that are unnecessarily art-school showy, but operation is easy, and recovery is excellent.

Please, read before you buy. This APP doesn´t work at all, is just a scam to steal your money…… you wont be able to use this version, it will simple not detect your drives. Please take this out of the APP store

Absolutely USELESS doesn’t not detect any hard drives just like most reviews state! FISHED IN!

I am a moron for not reading all the reviews of this software first. I used this program years ago and it worked great. Didn’t see my drives. What a waste of 60 bucks.

This app should be delisted. I bought it because of previous good experiences with Prosoft, however upon download I discovered that it only works with Lion. Shame on me for not completely reading the description, this is completely useless for me. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I wanted a version of this software that only works on Lion I could have just pirated it.

What a waste of money.

It can’t find any drives. I bought a $20 program that can find my drive and recover images. Save your money. I want my money back.

This is a scam. If you purchase this, it will not work. Then, the company will tell you to pay another 39 dollars to make it work. This is completely immoral, expecially when the compatiblity is listed as "OS X 10.6.6 or later”. Carnival barkers have more integrity than this company.

Major issue: this software cant find installed SATA drives on my desktop computer, only the external USB drives. My main reason for purchasing this program was I have a few Gbs of files I accidentally deleted on my laptop. I also have a desktop MacPro and I connected the two over wifi to access my MacPro from my laptop. That way I can test out different file recovery programs on my MacBook without having to install and possibly overwrite anything to the laptop, except this program will NOT run that way on my laptop at all. All the other programs I tested out would scan and search the laptop drives but this one did not allow to start. The interface is unique but a little too baroque for my taste, it has some very cool graphics but it doesnt really make it any easier, more logical or better to use the software. A bit over the top. That said the software does NOT run properly. Im running OSX 10.6.8

This can’t find any mounted or unmounted external drives what so ever that appear on my desktop and in other disk utility apps. The only thing it can find is iso files, not very useful. Waste of money, needs to an update to get it working, look else where for your needs.

I downloaded the demo version and ran it finding files I could recover. It won’t allow you to do so with the demo version so I went to the Apple store and purchased it. Big mistake. It doesn’t run on Yosemite. Called customer service and had to pay an additional $40 for a version that does work. In the end I spent over $100 and the files I recovered couldn’t be opened.

Just bought this in hopes of recovering some deleted files from an external drive. Upon launching the program NONE of my external hard drives show up in the list. Not sure why no drives show in the list… any help here!?

This Product is a hack. The app posted here is out of date. They try to get you to download a version off their website, that succeeds in scanning your hard drive. However, when you purchased the app in the store, it doesn’t work and requires an upgrade at an additional cost. These are scammers, I’m suprised they’re even in the app store.

Apple should not promote software that has not been compatible for years. I purchased the software, updated my OS and now it doesn’t see any drives at all regaurdless of their condition. They have a newer version they want to sell on their web site, why isn’t that one listed?
